DHAKA: The Gulshan Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Detective Branch (DB) has arrested Mizanur Rahman (59), the son-in-law of Jamaat-e-Islami MP Md. Abdul Gafur (Kushtia-2), in connection with the rampage, vandalism, and looting at content creator Salman Muqtadir's production studio, 'Brownfish'.

Salman Muqtadir's Brownfish studio is located inside the 'New Guinea Properties' housing project in South Manikdi, adjacent to Dhaka's ECB Circle. On the night of September 26, an armed gang of around 50 miscreants trespassed into the property and fired over 50 rounds of gunshots. Alongside New Guinea Properties, the attackers vandalized Salman Muqtadir's studio and looted high-value professional cameras, laptops, electronic media equipment, and cash.

Following the incident, a case was filed with the Cantonment Police Station on behalf of New Guinea Properties against 13 named individuals and 150–200 unidentified persons. MP Abdul Gafur's son-in-law, Mizanur Rahman, is listed as accused number 9 in the case.

On the afternoon of September 28, a team from the DB Gulshan Division arrested him from his residence in the West Matikata area. MP Abdul Gafur was present during the arrest.

Police stated that the armed attack and looting stemmed from a land dispute and local dominance. Operations are ongoing to arrest the remaining suspects involved in the incident.
