Details of the Killings:
 * Parvez and Sammo: The deaths of Parvez (Primeasia University), stabbed after an altercation, and Sammo (Dhaka University), fatally stabbed following a motorcycle crash near the campus, ignited the first wave of protests. JCD leaders alleged Parvez's attackers were linked to the newly formed Anti-Discrimination Student Movement/former BCL members.
 * The Chittagong Double-Murder: In mid-October, local JCD leaders Opi Das (26) and Tanim (20) were stabbed by miscreants during an altercation in Hathazari, Chattogram. Opi died on the spot, and Tanim succumbed to his wounds hours later. Police have made at least one arrest.
 * The Jubayed Killing: Most recently, Jubayed Ahmed (28), a JnU unit leader, was found fatally stabbed on the staircase of a residence in Old Dhaka where he went to tutor a student. Police have detained the student and her family for questioning and identified two other suspects via CCTV footage.
JCD's Vehement Response
In the wake of each tragedy, JCD leaders and activists have mobilized in massive numbers. Their combined protest actions have seen them block major intersections like Shahbagh and besiege police stations, demanding swift and transparent investigations.
"We are bleeding," said a central JCD leader in a recent press conference. "From Dhaka to Chattogram, our activists are being targeted and killed in broad daylight. The consistent method of these brutal knife attacks is not random; it is part of a culture of insecurity and impunity that the university administrations and the government have failed to dismantle."
The student body is now demanding:
 * Immediate arrest of the main perpetrators and masterminds in all five cases.
 * Exemplary punishment for all those involved to end the cycle of violence.
